Authorities filed charges against an alleged drunk driver after she hit a bicyclist in Hollywood, South Carolina, on Wednesday, August 5.
Authorities say that the 16-year-old bicyclist was riding along Highway 162 when a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old female allegedly hit him. The collision occurred shortly before 11 p.m., according to Live 5 News.
DUI Charges Filed
Emergency personnel transported the bicyclist to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, but he died of his injuries at 11:47 p.m., according to a deputy coroner from the Charleston County coroner’s office. Officers arrested the motorist, and authorities booked her into the Al Cannon Detention Center. She now faces charges of felony DUI, and a judge set bond at $150,000.
Investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office continue to compile information about this fatal crash.
